First Haircut: No more baby curls

Friday, July 5, 2013
Today I finally decided it was time to get Ezra's hair cut. I've been avoiding it for so long, despite his hair always being in his eyes and having a crazy mop head. I just love those baby curls. I love his long blonde wispy hair, it may look wild, but I couldn't bare to cut it off.
I guess now that he is a big brother, and he's no long the baby of the family it was time to get him an actual hair style. The hair-dresser did so well considering how fast she had to move and how fidgety he was. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted, and she got it pretty close, there is just some hair on one side that I think is a little long, yep I am finicky like that. Originally I wanted them to do an 'undercut' at the sides and back, but she thought it wouldn't look right because his hair was too thin. So she just did it with scissors, it looks good. But, not 100% what I was aiming for, but I'm happy, and I think he is pretty impressed with his hair too, he keeps checking himself out in the mirror.
He had to sit on Dad's lap, and there was no way we were getting a smock on him. But, he got through it without wigging out or screaming. The lollipop obviously did its job properly, keep him appeased so he sits still!! It took him over an hour to finish it, he doesn't quite grasp the lollipop thing yet!
I am one of those Mums who kept a lock of his hair. I was so nervous before taking him in, I really didn't want a horrible hair cut. I feel lame admitting that, but it was a big deal for me.
My baby boy looks so much older,  and it's just a reminder of how fast he is growing up. He will be two next month. Eeek, TWO!!!
How long did it take you to get your kids first hair cut? Were you paranoid like me?

The End Result. What a big boy. No more baby curls!

I still can't bear to get rid of his baby curls!
I have given him little trims...mostly when the curls have become dread locks...but so far we haven't cut the whole head!

  5. We got my daughters hair cut on Monday. She's two and a bit.
She barely cut anything off and it's lost the salon freshness already. She's got curly hair and I have no idea how to style it.

  13. I have been 'pretending' to cut Jarvis's hair for months. We sit him on the bench and put a cape on his shoulders and basically just comb his hair. This way by the time he has an actually hair cut he will be use to the cape and sitting still. So far all I have done is trim his mullet a little. It just changes them so much with a first 'real' hair cut.
