D.I.Y Chevron Baby Headband

Thursday, January 30, 2014

Although I named this a tutorial for a baby headband, it would also work and look really cute on toddlers and little kids too! You just might have to adjust the length a little! I'm generally not a huge fan of headbands for babies, especially when, like mine, they have no hair!! ha. But, I just couldn't resist. I love a little chevron boho style for babies, and something nice and bright like this is a bit of fun. So, I decided to give it a shot and use some leftover  wool and make it in a friendship bracelet macrame style I used to do as a kid, but as a headband, surely it would work the same!

Chicken and Vegetable Pies

Monday, January 27, 2014

So today I have a guest recipe post, ! The lovely recipe creator is Breanne, from Dinner Inspo! Today she is sharing a great family meal, Chicken and Vegetable individual pies, that hopefully will even entice the little ones!

 Right now she has an Instagram account @dinnerinspo and Facebook page where she shares awesome inspiration for dinner, lunches and toddler friendly food (so head over and show her some love).  She's a good friend of mine, and practically my sister in law, so I can vouch for her AWESOME cooking skills! She loves to cook, experiment and create new things in the kitchen and trust me, the photos of the meals  that she posts have me drooling all over my phone on a daily basis, but more importantly it also helps me plan my weekly meals with all the dinner inspiration! I find the hardest thing about going grocery shopping is thinking about and figuring out my meal plans, so for me this is really helpful!

Reverting to my Childhood {Sponsored Post & Giveaway}

(this post is sponsored by Target Australia)

There is just something about having a baby girl that makes me revert to my childhood. I get drawn back to the days where I used to LOVE spending my days playing with and dressing up my dolls (and my brother, because I was always DESPERATE for a sister, but ended up with three brothers). I love having a boy, of course, the trucks and the cars and the boyish stuff is awesome and fun, but it isn't the stuff I get excited about. It doesn't bring back any sense of childhood nostalgia for me, not like Cabbage Patch dolls, Care Bears and Trolls.

3/52

Sunday, January 19, 2014
So, I'm sure if you read a few blogs in the Aussie blogosphere (yep, that is a word, I'm sure of it), then you probably have stumbled across the 52 Project started by Jodi at Practicing Simplicity (Previously Che & Fidel). It is something it seems that lots of bloggers are participating in. While I was away, I gave it some thought again, and realised how great it is to look back at the end of a year and see the gradual changes in your children week by week as the year progresses. At this time last year I had NO IDEA what Willow looked like, all we had glimpsed was just a black and white picture of her squirming around, and Ezra looked like such a baby. Today I looked at him and realised just how much of a boy he is now, the baby, as sad as it is, is gone.

So, saying all that, this year, I will be joining in too. But, what I am really excited about is making an album with these portraits of my children from every week, at the end of the year. I have a little obsession right now with getting started on some Project Life Albums. I just don't have the time right now with the pending move! But, I love the idea that I can flick through an album and have a picture of my children every week for an entire year. Even if you don't blog, or don't want to share pictures, it is a great way to have a little keepsake for yourself and your kids!

I'm a couple of weeks late, due to our little holiday, which I will share about more when I get the chance!! But, until then here are my portraits from this week.

 My two tired ones... one fast asleep in Mum and Dad's bed because he was cold in the tent, the other completely zoned out but refusing to sleep in the porta cot.

HELLO 2014...

Gosh, I remember in highschool talking about what we will refer to the 2010-2019 years as, the teens we thought would be pretty cool. It seemed so far away, but what do you know, here it is, we are almost in the middle of 'the teens'. They are just zooming by, and I feel like I'm just hanging on with my fingertips trying to get a grasp.
