Mini Rodini Home Collection - Yes.. Organic Cotton Bedding!!!

Thursday, May 24, 2018
Mini Rodini Horse Bedspread Australia

For the first time EVER, Mini Rodini has released a Home (kids bedding) collection, that was available to stockists to carry! I have been soooo excited that we are one of the few Australian stockists of this collection! They arrived last week and as expected they did not disappoint!

As per usual, Mini Rodini has used GOTS certified organic cotton, meaning no chemicals for your kids skin and also much better for the farmers producing and harvesting the cotton as they don't have the negative health ramifications from pesticide rich cotton crops! They also have used recycled materials for the insides of the bedspreads!

There is a range of Quilt Cover and Pillow Sets available, in both Baby/Cot sizes and one that they call Adult size, which is just slightly larger than the standard Australian single quilt cover size, but fits perfectly on a single bed with a single quilt inside (at least thats what I've done and it works great). The pillow is slightly smaller that the standard Australian pillowcase size, but because my kids pillows are a lot flatter than the adult size, the Mini Rodini 50 x 60 cm pillowcase that comes as part of the set actually fits their pillows fine. Additionally if you would like a larger size pillow case we do have them available separately.

Additionally, there are some super cute little bedding nests for the little ones, great for traveling!! The Amazing horse/leopard bedspreads that you see pictured above. That comes in both the pink and the beige horses! And a delicious range of Velvet cushion covers!

There is just so much to love in this collection!

My boys picked (ok really, I picked for the 2 year old, but it got his excited squeal of approval) The Leopard Bedset and the Croc Maps Bed Set for the 6 year old. He's a bit obsessed with animals and maps and all of that fun stuff at the moment so its perfect for him! A bit like a treasure map.

House Tour: Our Kitchen and Living/Dining Rooms

Friday, June 19, 2015

A few months ago now Godfrey Hirst asked if they could photograph our kitchen, in particular our floors, which are Godfrey Hirst Vue Laminate in Mountain parchment (thought I would throw that one in, because people are always asking about our floors and what they are)! Of course I was more than happy for them to come and take some snaps. Until, of course, I realised the amount of work that I would have to do to get the kitchen up to a photographable state! Not to mention that we hadn't even put our skirting in our living area at that time! Because, you know, life with 2 toddlers a husband who works really hard and trying to run a business from home doesn't leave a lot of time (or energy) to finish off house projects on the weekend.

But, we pushed through, Joel laid the skirting, and I painted it, because, well, I won't let him do it. Then I made that kitchen sparkle! And the living area too, because I wasn't sure they just wanted the kitchen. And of course, the play room, because we thought they might like some snaps of that too! Phew.

So, when the photographer arrived, she was really lovely, but she informed me that her brief was to include the kids rooms and other areas, because our carpet in those rooms are Godfrey Hirst too.. EEEEEEP! So another mad rush around vacuuming and tidying and trying to sort out the absolute chaos Ez had made in his room since he has been up at 5am.

So, when you see these photos, know, that it doesn't always look like this, actually it rarely looks like this at the moment, I wish I had the time and the energy to make this house perfect, but, it is what it is!!

Our old house had such tiny rooms and everything felt cramped and cluttered, so I was determined with this house not to have 'too much stuff' filling up the dining/living area! So its spacious and a little bare in places, but I like it like that. I like not having cluttered corners or having to squeeze around furniture. And, there isn't much around for the kids to get into or destroy!

Our mint Green kitchenette was an EBay purchase back in 2007. When we bought our last house it didn't have a pantry, so the kitchenette was perfect, and I'm so glad it fits in with this house too! Our dining table is an old one belonging to Joel's Grandma. It is made from American Oak, in the USA and we brought it over here when we moved back. Our dining chairs are some more eclectic EBay purchases, and the Muuto pendants over the dining table are my absolute favourites!

Our fabulous friends built us the giant ply hex shelf on the wall, and we mounted it on with screws in the back, because its so heavy!

I like the mix of retro and new, it gives some old time character to our new house.

The house is still very much a work in progress, but I like the way it is coming along.

We're Building A House: Kitchen Almost Complete

Monday, May 19, 2014

Last week I finally found some bar stools for our kitchen, they were on sale for $39.95 EACH, so I swiftly napped 4 of them. I had been looking and looking for ages to find decent bar stools, and these just popped up on my facebook newsfeed, that was handy! I absolutely love them, they are the Hudson Stool from Mocka

The last thing to go up in the kitchen is our pendant lights, two Muuto unfold lights from Scandanavian Design Center. But, my brother the sparky is a little occupied with his new bub, so I thought it best not to pester him!!

Anyway, I love the way it turned out, the simple things like the plain white subway tiles look so good with the charcoal grout, and because I just love everything grey, and  I'm so happy with the way the cabinets look, they are new graphite colour by Laminex. Our fridge doesn't quite fit properly in this spot, its too skinny and the door opens the wrong way making it really awkward, but it just has to do for now!

We put the shelves up, they are an oak look laminate, the brand is Big Boy I think! We got them from a Temple and Webster sale. I think the shelves fill in that wall and make it feel less stark and more homey! Now just to figure out what to put on those shelves!

The kitchen is where most of my effort has gone, its nice now that its almost complete that I can start dreaming about other rooms! But, the kitchen is our hub, the heart of the house, so its nice that it feels finished!

These picture are not so great, just taken with my phone, because I feel too lazy to pull out the DSLR, but you get the idea!

New Aussie Designed Cot Bedding: In Bed With Fred

Monday, May 12, 2014

Last week I stumbled across this beautiful new Australian company that has just launched their first range of nursery linen! I love their name: In Bed With Fred, and I love that it was started by three Aussie Mums!! Who obviously saw what was missing in the kids linen realm! I think their collection of cot sheets and quilt sets are GORGEOUS!  So, I thought you might like it too!
Their linen is all made from 300TC Cotton Sateen so as well as looking great, I'm sure it is pretty nice  to sleep on too. And, you can pre-order now for delivery late this month.

I feel like only a year ago when I was hunting for cot linen for Willow, it was so hard to find anything really nice that wasn't pink polka dots or just plain boringness! So this is so, so refreshing to see really lovely cot bedding for both boys and girls!

There seems to be a bunch of big companies diving into the kids linen arena lately, but if you look just a little harder you can find some gorgeous small businesses and independent designers that have some really great pieces, that will give your kids rooms a little more individuality!

Plus, I really like the idea of supporting small Australian companies and designers, even if it does cost a little bit more than the mass produced stuff!

To Check Out their entire range and pre-order head to their website: www.inbedwithfred.com.au

(And this post is totally not sponsored, just love what these ladies are producing, and wanted to share)

Mother's Day Mistake & Wishlist

Sunday, May 4, 2014
So, funny story!! This year, we got a little muddled up! And actually celebrated Mother's Day, today. I could point fingers (JOEL!!!!!!!), but I didn't actually pick up on the mistake until this afternoon, well after I had taken full advantage of milking everything I could from Mother's day. I got a nice cup of tea in bed, then read my book, and Joel took Ezra grocery shopping whilst Willow had her morning nap, and I read my book some more! I just started reading The Goldfinch and it sucked me in from the get go. I'm even  having a hard time even sitting here doing this because I just want to keep on reading. It really was a relaxing day, I thought about going out to eat, but figured it would be really busy, but I should have gone, because it probably wasn't busy at all, considering it wasn't actually a national special day for Mums.

But, the mix up happened I guess because I haven't really been watching any TV with ads, I don't get junk mail, and my internet browsing has been on a minimum, plus my Mum is away on holidays for the next couple of weeks. So I have just been totally out of the loop and Joel told me it was this weekend, and well, who was I to doubt that!! But, no harm done, I'll just take advantage of the ACTUAL Mother's Day next weekend! Bonus for me I suppose!

Seeing now I get to celebrate again, I suppose it would be a good idea to put up my Mothers Day Wish List! You can tell by my list that my mind is still consumed by fitting out our house!

My Favourite Art Prints for Girl's Rooms

Wednesday, February 12, 2014
I'm trying to figure out what I want to do for Willow's room, there are just so many gorgeous things out there for baby girl's nurseries, it is really so hard to narrow it down. I am such a bad decision maker when it comes to these things, I mull over the options forever! So, seeing I can't have ALL of these, I thought I would share. I am a little obsessed with Scandanavian style and prints for kids, if you can't tell! They have such a keen eye for design!

So these are my favourite art prints for little girl's rooms! And, if you only have boys to worry about, don't fret, the options are just as great, I'll get those to you soon. But until then, feel free to swoon over these!
