No Maternity Style: 39 Weeks

Thursday, June 20, 2013

Well, on Tuesday I waddled ungracefully into my 39th week of pregnancy. As I know I've alluded to previously, I was hoping I wouldn't make it to the 39th week of pregnancy, and I've been dreading going over the 40th week like I did the first time. Each of those 11 days that I went over were excruciatingly long and frustrating, and hanging over me was the looming fear of the impending induction. Which did end up eventuating, meaning no water birth for me.

Everyday I am still waiting in anticipation, but I'm trying desperately not to stress or get as frustrated as last time about it. I'm trying to relax and enjoy my quieter days and trust that my body and my baby will find a time that is optimal for us both, that delivers the least amount of stress on my body and a healthy baby ready to make her appearance to the world.

I've officially been kicked out of our bed, and I've moved into the spare bedroom. Apparently I make too much noise when I roll over, and I take up too much room. I'm not complaining because I really like the spare bed, and when Ezra gets up early in the morning it isn't me he starts jumping on, so I'm getting a bit more of a sleep in!! Which I desperately need because I'm often up eating oatmeal at midnight and unable to sleep.
A really grainy bathroom shot! You're welcome!
There isn't a real maternity style post this week because, well lets be honest there isn't very much style going on at the moment. My style basically consists of the comfiest PJ pants ever, the QANTAS business class PJ pants that my Dad gets on his work trips and hands them around, I think almost my whole family wears them, seriously they are amazing! If you weren't aware, people who travel business class get changed into complimentary pyjamas on long flights, well wouldn't that be nice!! I've never had that opportunity. A black tank top that is almost too short and whatever cardigan I can find rounds out my daily wardrobe.

So, what methods do you swear by to get that baby out? I've heard great things about acupuncture. I've heard that castor oil works, but I'm not sure I want to deal with the explosive diarreah that accompanies it.

Woah, I just blew right up this week, and I just feel big, but that is ok I guess this baby must be getting nice and chubby! I'm at that stage where it is getting quite uncomfortable, and I'm often up in the middle of the nice doing stretches and trying to find a sleeping position that works. She seems like she is running out of room in there. All day it feels like she is trying to break out. We are getting so excited the meet this little girl, will she have dark hair like me, red hair like her Dad or will she be a little blondie like her big brother?

We are working on names, which was a struggle for us last time as well. We're figuring out where to put her things, and finally I can do some nesting type stuff, like wash her clothes and put them in a chest of drawers we picked up from a roadside pickup, that needs some re-painting, but that will have to come later. I'm hoping she arrives on time, or a little early. Not late like her older brother who came 11 excruciating days after my due date, whilst I was having sporadic contractions every day that kept tricking me into thinking it was time to go to the hospital.

Maternity Style: 34 Weeks Party Dress

Monday, May 20, 2013

So, going to a party when you are 34 weeks pregnant can be a little challenging. It can be really hard to feel glamorous when your stomach is gigantic, your face is all puffy and your legs ache just thinking about wearing heels. Even though I was really excited about going, the thought of trying to get dressed up was really daunting.

Until I found this dress! This is another gem from the ASOS maternity range, and I had to get it express posted at the beginning of last week. I love the bright print, it wasn't just plain and drab like many maternity dresses are, it actually was something that I am kind of bummed that I wont be able to wear when I'm not pregnant.

I also was really smart and left my shoe purchasing to the last minute. I got up bright and early on Saturday morning and hoofed it into Pitt St Mall, I was feeling a little discouraged and desperate, I'd searched for shoes the evening before, but I was so tired and the shops were so chaotic I left empty handed.  I didn't have any shoes for the evening, and I had only a couple of hours time frame to find some. Why do I always do this stuff to myself?

Once again, Myer (my old trusty) delivered. This beautiful pair of Basque boots, for a nice 25% off. I almost didn't even look at them because the size of the heel scared this off balanced pregnant lady! But, I liked them so much I just couldn't walk away without trying them. They past the first test, I could walk around the store without wobbling or looking super awkward! SOLD! They are actually really comfortable, and I pretty much stood in them all night.

The photo's are a little crap because I had to do selfie's with my phone.
My camera suffered a little on the way over and ended up with a smashed lens.
But, I did have fun playing around with the A Beautiful Mess IPhone app to do some editing.

Maternity Style: 33 Weeks Acid Wash

Sunday, May 12, 2013
It finally got cold enough in Perth for me to bite the bullet and get a pair of proper maternity jeans, I'm so glad I did. I just bought these jeans earlier this week from ASOS, and I pretty much haven't taken them off since. They do not feel like I am wearing jeans, they are so comfy. I was a little worried about the whole 'Acid Wash maternity jeans' thing as soon as I hit the complete order button, thinking this could go really badly. When they arrived it was love at first sight, they don't overdo it on the 80's look. The top was another recent purchase from ASOS,  as I am quickly running out of tops that were long enough to cover this expanding belly.

If you follow me on instagram you may have seen me debating about keeping these shoes or not. I do love them, but I wasn't sure they were practical enough, if I have enough things to wear them with.  Then I decided, screw practical, I love them. Yep they are bright and stripey, but that is the way I like my shoes.

I hope all the Mum's out there have a lovely, lovely relaxing day tomorrow and that you feel very spoilt, loved and blessed by your families.

Happy Mothers Day xx

Maternity Style: 32 weeks A bit of Neon

Saturday, May 4, 2013
I've been really enjoying these maternity posts. I still feel awkward posing for the photos, and I still have to get Joel to take about a million photos before I get a few I am happy with. I'm always pulling weird faces, have several chins, the lighting is terrible or my body is just in a weird position. What I am enjoying so much though, is that at least once a week I go to a bit more effort when I get dressed in the morning. I put some makeup on, blow dry my hair and just basically feel good about myself after it is all done (until I critically analyse all the photos that is). With a toddler running around and feeling big and heavy these days I don't have a lot of time to spend on personal grooming, so these posts give me a little excuse! Plus it is a great record for myself of this pregnancy, it will be nice to look back on I think.

I hope that you are enjoying them as well!

So, here we go again, Week 32... Once again you've flown by.

Maternity Style: 31 weeks

Saturday, April 27, 2013

I feel a little more on top of things than I did this time last week. I am finally getting over my continuous colds that seem to have been hanging on for the last couple of weeks, it helps that we are now all getting a proper night sleep thanks to the cot! I even managed to buy a cradle for my little girl to sleep in. It was a bargain from Gumtree, and you know I love a bargain.

This week I taught myself (with the help of YouTube) to crochet, and I started a little project for my baby girl. I love the thought of preparing for her arrival by taking the time to sit and make something specifically for her. It's a bit of a tedious project, and it takes a lot of counting stitches, but I've been enjoying the time in the quiet, with no technology distractions. It is my time to think and ponder and dream. I think it has been helping me to emotionally prepare to be a mother again as well. Things can be so busy and chaotic with a toddler in the house, as well all the other demands and general business of life. I feel like I need the quiet and the solitude for an hour or so in the evenings just to focus on my precious girl, and how grateful I am for her. I'm so excited to meet her in person.

Angus desperately wanted to be in the pictures with me today. He's my first baby, at least I treated him like a baby until my real baby came along.

And here is the cradle I bought. I am so excited about it, it is so so lovely!

Thanks for visiting my little space online.

Maternity Style: 30 Weeks Studs and Sandals

Saturday, April 20, 2013
So it seems because I was a few days later in posting my maternity posts a couple of weeks in a row, I have missed a week. I was 30 weeks on Wednesday, so looks like 29 weeks missed its chance. You may have also noticed, I'm not wearing thongs (flip flops)!! Yay, the cooler weather has meant more variety of shoe choices.

Hitting 30 weeks sent me into a bit of panic mode. I am just so disorganised for the arrival of this baby, and 30 weeks means this is all getting very real, and time is running out. Not being in our own house, and not really having any room for baby stuff, is probably why I am lagging so badly. There is another spare room at my parents house, but it is full of stuff, plus it is the room where other people (like my Nanna) stay when they come to visit, so it isn't really practical to start loading it with girly baby accessories. Our room is also pretty full right now,  seeing we basically moved from a whole house, into one room. Ezra has his own room as well, but that is full too. I'm not really sure where to put all the extra baby gear I need to accumulate, so I've just been avoiding it all together. I dream of a beautiful baby nursery, with all the pretty little girly things and chevrons and lace, but that is just going to have to wait until our house is built.

I'm going to have to bite the bullet soon, because really, there isn't much time left!!! Any other last minute baby preparers out there too?

Maternity Style: 28 weeks Maxi Dress

Tuesday, April 9, 2013
This maxi dress is becoming less maxi every day, everytime I wear it, it's becoming shorter and shorter. At the rate this baby bump is going soon it will be knee length.
Not much else makes you feel as pregnant than wearing one large flowing piece of material without a whole lot of shape. But. I like it anyway, it's just so easy, no pulling tops down that are getting too short or pulling ill fitting pants up every 5 mins. I love the print on this dress too!! I bought it a little bit ago when Esther clothing had 40% off their whole website. But browsing their website makes me wish I could wear all of their clothes now!!
I am wearing thongs (flip flops) again like I pretty much do everyday at the moment because my feet look a little like mini pillows. I think it is partially due to the heat, but they are puffy and most of my shoes don't really fit, especially in the afternoons. Last pregnancy my feet grew a half a size, I hope that doesn't happen again. It's still in the mid 30's (celsius) here in Perth, which is weird for April, but we've been trying to take advantage of it and getting some beach days in.
In other news, it's my 30th Birthday this week. Goodbye 20's! I feel like I haven't had much time to think about it, it has sort of snuck up on me. I can't even tell Joel what I want for my birthday, I think some Internet browsing tonight is in order.
My little helper wanted to pose with his Pop's sunnies as well!!

Maternity Style: 27 weeks Harem Pants

Sunday, March 31, 2013

The bump is growing!! I've had a couple of people this week act surprised when I told them I was only 27 weeks, which has made me a little more self conscious about my size, and starting to get me worrying about how much more growing I still have to go.  I definitely feel bigger, earlier this time around, apparently I look it as well. I am starting to feel like that energy from the 2nd trimester is starting to fade and I'm feeling that tiredness again, I just want to nap all the time.

These harem pants pictured were one of those purchases that you see on the rack and think, 'this could either go really well, or really badly.' Thankfully, I had a couple of girls at the store with me to encourage my purchase, otherwise I may have just walked away. They aren't specifically maternity pants, but the waist goes up over my belly, which is perfect. The best thing about them is how comfy they are. That is really my goal this pregnancy, to be as comfortable as possible!! Plus they will work for post-labour as well, they feel like pj's but look a lot nicer!

I had to endure the horrible glucose tolerance test earlier this week. They are now making everyone (In West Oz at least I don't know about everywhere else) do the full 2 hour test, instead of the 1 hour. Meaning I had to fast for 12 hours and then go and chug down that horrid green sugary drink. I spent the next two hours sitting in the waiting room of the pathology place trying not to throw up. The fast food ads that kept coming on the radio were making me gag. I had this grand plan to get some blogging done and be productive, but instead I just stared queasily at gossip magazines because I didn't feel I could concentrate very well.

I hope everyone is having a great Easter break! I know I have been feeling really relaxed and am just enjoying being with my family, more on that later! For now, for me, it is bed time.

HAPPY EASTER

My Maternity Style Wish List

Friday, March 1, 2013
Seeing good, comfortable and stylish maternity clothing has been on my mind a lot lately, as I am quickly running out of clothes to wear that I actually like, I thought as I was perusing the inter-web I would make a collection of some of the clothes I would LOVE to buy for this pregnancy. Finding good maternity clothes can be such a challenge, and it can be really expensive. I try to avoid the huge price tags and just find stuff that I feel good in.  So here is my list. Number 4 I already bought earlier this week because Esther clothing was having a half price sale, and I am anxiously awaiting its arrival in the post. Number 1 I bought a couple of months ago and wore while we were on holidays on the chilly evenings, they are soooo comfy and I think they look pretty good too!
